Suffragan Bishop David Parker is the founder and pastor, Emeritus, of the Zion Apostolic Faith Church in Akron, Ohio, where he served for 44 years.  Bishop Parker was saved in his early teens and immediately started his service in the house of the Lord, serving as Usher, Youth Leader, Brotherhood President, Sunday School teacher, preacher, evangelist, and eventually pastor.

Bishop Parker has a consistent record of faithfulness and dedication to whatever office he finds himself in. During his youth, he organized the first city-wide young people’s unity meeting encompassing Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Youngstown. He also held such offices president of the Northern District Brotherhood, president of the State Young People’s Union, organizer and dean of the ODC Lighthouse Institute, Chairman of the Hallowed Hills Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Ohio District Council.  The Ohio District Council honored him with a grand and elegant going-out-of-office banquet in July of 2009.  Hundreds attended and many accolades were bestowed on him for his superb leadership and service to the ODC. He served as Liaison for the North East Region Auxiliaries for nearly a decade.

He was appointed District Elder under the late Bishop C.R. Lee in 1978 and served as a faithful and innovative leader over his districts.  As District Elder, he organized the ROTC (Regional Outreach to Churches) which brought great unity and financial support to the churches in the Lorain, Elyria, Fremont, and Sandusky areas. As District Elder of District # 4, he organized the first After Glow service which was held annually around Thanksgiving, and which greatly strengthened and unified the churches in the Akron/Canton and surrounding area.

In 1992, the late Diocesan Bishop Francis L. Smith, elevated him to Suffragan Bishop of Protocol for the Ohio District Council, and appointed him liaison for the Southern District auxiliaries.  He faithfully served each SOD auxiliary regardless of the travel miles involved.  In 1998 he was made liaison of the NER auxiliaries.  Bishop Parker received his Doctor of Divinity Degree from International Apostolic College of Grace and Truth in 1995.

Bishop Parker has remained faithful over the years and has been used by God to bring many souls to Christ.  His faithfulness and dedication is his legacy to this generation and to the generations who shall follow. 

He and Dr. Ada Parker, his wife, are the proud parents of two children, their spouses and six grandchildren. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Dr. Ada Parker served as Women’s Auxiliary for six years; and President of the Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Auxiliary, nine years. She is the wife of Suffragan Bishop David Parker, pastor emeritus of Zion Apostolic Faith Church in Akron, Ohio. She is now a retired pastor’s wife after 44 years of service at the same church. She and Bishop Parker are the proud parents of two children and their spouses, and six grandchildren. During her 44 years as pastor’s wife, Dr. Parker served in nearly every capacity at the church. She still teaches Sunday School, and she has served as Director of Christian Education, and overseers of the Youth ministry of the church. She is the founder of Zion’s Life Line Ministry, a Christ centered drug and alcohol prevention and recovery program.

Dr. Parker has served in the Ohio District Council as President of the Christian Women. She served as editor of both the IMCWA’s Focus Magazine and the IMWMWA’s Light Magazine. She also edited the IMWMWA’s Book of Remembrance. In August 2010, she became the immediate past President of the International Ministers Wives and Ministers’; Widows Auxiliary of the P.A.W., Inc.

Dr. Parker attended Central State College in Wilberforce, Ohio, and received her Doctorate in Christian Education (Christian Counseling) from IAC in August of 1996. Her testimony is, “I’ve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord.” Her favorite scripture is, “O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Psalms 136:1
